Definition and Purpose
Under the supervision of the Coordinator
I– Audio Visual, the student manager for Audio Visualis responsible formanagingthe
Audio Visual Technicians and Student Assistants.
This position supervises a staff of15to20and works closely withthe
University Union leadership team. This position requires effective communication with staff and participantsregardingprograms, services, policies, and emergency response.
The Student Manager – Audio Visual works closely with
ASIEvent Operations andASIEvent Logistics to help coordinate hosting events in ASI’s facilities. A background in Audio Visual is not necessary for this position, but it is beneficial.
In order to maximize the student manager’s personal development and ensure that their experience with ASI is broad based, incumbents will be assignedadditionalresponsibilities beyond their specific program or staff area.

- Must be a currently enrolled student at Cal Poly with a minimum of 6 units.

- Ability toestablishand maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds, specific needs, or limitations.
- Supervise,schedule,and manage daily operations for staffof 15to20student employees.
- Train employees in essential duties, customerserviceand risk management.
- Initiate and/or manage staff coaching, discipline and feedback for staff area.
- Participate in leadership development training with immediate supervisor and student manager leadership team.
- Complete weekly administrative duties, including but not limited to service requests, developing agendas,and conducting regular staff meetings.
- Abide by and enforce all ASI and campus security regulationsregardingconfidential and private information.
- Effectively manage applicable internal and external communication outlets.
- Ensure all area manuals, procedures and resources areaccurateandeasilyavailable to staff.
- Display awareness of allASI and staff area policies; enforcepoliciesasnecessary.
- Maintain the integrity of the ASI philosophy and brand.
- Produce regular reports, reviews,and assessments of staff area.
- Exhibit punctuality and dependability bymaintaininga consistent work schedule.
