The US West Region is looking for a motivated Senior Transportation Project Manager with the skills to help take our highways, roads, bridges, and related infrastructure practice to the next level. You will support GHD’s established Highways, Roads, Bridges practice across California and the US West, delivering highways, interchanges, local roads, roundabouts, trails/active transportation, bridges, and other vital improvements. This is a chance to work with a broad network of clients, including Federal, State, Regional, County, Municipal agencies, and private sector partners, within a culture that promotes teamwork, integrity, and respect.

This position will work from any of our Northern California offices (Concord, Santa Rosa, Roseville, San Francisco, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, Santa Rosa, Roseville, Redding or Eureka) but will be networked through our offices across the West Region with a focus on California.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Governance:
    Clarify roles and responsibilities within the project team and ensure project compliance with the organization s wider program and/or portfolio management decision-making structures and processes.
  • Portfolio Management:
    Plan and manage the delivery of projects within an area of professional expertise, using an appropriate project management methodology to ensure outcomes are achieved.
  • Project Team Management:
    Lead large project teams; define the project vision, communicate outcomes, provide guidance, coordinate team actions, and build team capability through training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Project Risk and Issue Management:
    Identify risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints; escalate and implement solutions as needed.
  • Project Benefit Realization:
    Deliver assessments to evaluate and track the realization of business benefits.
  • Project Resource Management:
    Manage deployment of project resources and budgets, with forecasts and variances presented at review points.
  • Culture of Innovation:
    Drive a culture of innovation through multistakeholder solutions and collaboration across business units.
  • Leadership and Direction:
    Communicate actions to implement the function s strategy and motivate the team to achieve local business goals.
  • Personal Capability Building:
    Develop own capabilities through ongoing education and professional accreditation where relevant.
  • Transformational Change Management:
    Manage substantial work streams within transformational change programs with structured change management methodologies.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans to ensure appropriate stakeholder input.
  • Project Scope Definition:
    Plan and lead information gathering, analysis, and stakeholder consultation activities and define deliverables.
  • Project Assurance:
    Manage assurance reviews and actions to give senior stakeholders confidence in delivery.
  • Enterprise Business Analysis:
    Interpret business needs and identify solution recommendations at a business-unit level.
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field; master’s degree preferred.
Experience
  • General

    Experience:

    Wide and deep experience providing expert competence (over 10 to 15 years).
  • 10+ years of experience with strong technical knowledge in transportation & municipal engineering, including planning & design; construction experience is a plus.
  • Registered Civil Engineer in the State of California required.
