We are seeking an Assistant Professor in Asian Philosophy, with specialization in East Asian Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion, and Buddhism. The candidate will teach courses in these areas and general education. The department hosts 18 professors and 19 lecturers, serving approximately 130 majors and 50 minors.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Asian Philosophy, including East Asian Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion, and Buddhism.
• Develop and implement a research program with publications, conference presentations, and grant activity.
• Supervise and advise graduate students, including research and dissertation progress.
• Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities.
• Contribute to inclusive teaching and curriculum development.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Philosophy earned or near completion; if ABD, must be conferred by Aug 2026.
• Demonstrated potential for scholarly achievement in Asian Philosophy and related areas.
• University teaching experience and ability to teach courses in the AOS and AOC.
• Proficiency in written and oral English.
• Preferred:
  Graduate degree in Religious Studies; experience with student‑centered learning and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Salary and Benefits

Salary range: $90,276 – $98,244 per year; commensurate with qualifications. Cal Poly offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, retirement, and paid leave.
