appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.

the industrial technology, packaging, and entrepreneurship area in the orfalea college of business at cal poly is creating a pool of eligible part-time lecturers and lab instructors for possible teaching assignments during the summer, fall, winter, and/or spring quarters of the  academic year. Teaching areas include: industrial automation and manufacturing technologies (e.g., cad/cam, basic plc and robot programming, setup/operation of cnc mills and lathes), industrial power systems, industrial safety and quality program leadership, product design and development (e.g., solidworks, fusion 360, artioscad, keyshot, rhinoceros, prototyping, sketching, rendering, user research), supply chain management and logistics, operations planning and control, lean six sigma, commercialization of new technologies, and professional technical selling.

Assignments will be contingent upon budget and enrollments.

education
bachelor's degree in industrial technology, design, engineering, or related discipline. Demonstrated currency in the professional field through ongoing work, training, or engagement with industry trends. Substantial and relevant industry experience, showing depth of knowledge and practical application in the field.

salary ranges
initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the lecturer a rank. As of july 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:

• lecturer a: $5,507-$6,677
• lecturer b: $6,221-$13,224
• lecturer c: $6,825-$14,523
• lecturer d: $8,593-$15,211
