Job SummaryThe teacher position will care and educate children from 6 weeks to 5 years old. The incumbent must be energetic, motivated by team success, and able to adapt quickly to new processes while providing high‑quality care. A passion for educating children and teamwork in a multi‑age setting is required.
Duties and Responsibilities- Under general supervision of Program Director, plan and implement a quality program for young children, ages 6 weeks – 5 years.
- Work as a team with other teachers in a multi‑age setting.
- Be willing and able to fill in any responsibilities needed with other age groups when situations arise.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom, following the philosophies of The Outdoor Classroom Project and Reggio based learning.
- Set up classroom environments following ITERS/ECERS, with bi‑monthly environment changes (literacy area, science, blocks, art, dramatic play, manipulatives, etc.).
- Attend a morning staff meeting and/or training once per month, and an evening team meeting once per month.
- Observe and evaluate children’s performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
- Meet with parents and guardians to discuss children’s progress and needs, determine goals and suggest ways to promote learning and development.
- Use computer programs such as Word, One Drive, basic digital photography, iPad apps and other employer software.
- 12+ units of Child Development / Early Childhood Studies.
- 3+ units of Infant / Toddler Care.
- CPR / First Aid certified (including fifteen hours of Health and Safety Training).
- At least 1 year of experience in a licensed early‑care and education program.
- Experience with Outdoor Classroom Project preferred.
- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record if the position requires driving.
- May participate in identity verification process to access secure client or government portals.
- Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person, on the phone or virtually.
- Dexterity of hands, fingers, and wrist to operate a computer keyboard or other devices.
- Vision sufficient to read a variety of materials.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Physical agility to lift 50 pounds to shoulder height; heavier items require two or more people or a lifting device.
- Physical agility to lift, carry, push or pull objects.
Pay scale: $21.00 – $25.00 hourly plus a $500.00 sign‑on bonus.
