The Social Sciences Department, College of Liberal Arts at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo is seeking applicants for a part‑time lecturer pool. Positions are available as needed during the Fall, Winter, and/or Spring quarters of the academic year, beginning September 11, 2025. The role primarily involves teaching courses in anthropology, geography, and/or sociology, with a particular need for lower‑division general education survey courses and upper‑division geography courses.
Responsibilities- Plan, develop, and deliver lecture‑based instruction in assigned courses.
- Prepare course materials, assignments, and examinations.
- Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Participate in departmental meetings and professional development sessions as required.
- Maintain professional presence and comply with university policies.
- Master’s degree in Anthropology, Geography, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in college teaching and evidence of strong teaching ability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ph.D. in Anthropology, Geography, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, or related field.
- Experience teaching upper‑division courses and curriculum development.
