PSYCHOLOGY AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT, PART-TIME LECTURER POOL. The Psychology and Child Development Department in the College of Liberal Arts, Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo is seeking applications for a pool of part-time lecturers. Positions are available as determined by need and funding during the Fall, Winter, and/or Spring quarters of the  academic year, which begins September 11, 2025.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate child development courses and/or undergraduate and graduate psychology courses (e.g., introductory psychology, research methods, behavioral genetics, infancy, early & middle childhood, behavioral disorders of childhood, adolescence, psychology of aging, multicultural psychology, cognitive psychology, and memory).

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department.

Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.

  • Lecturer B: $6,221-$13,224
  • Lecturer C: $6,825-$14,523
  • Lecturer D: $8,593-$15,221

Required Qualifications

Master's Degree in Psychology, Human Development, Social Work, or a related field are required.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with a Ph.D., appropriate academic preparation and university-level teaching experience.

Special Conditions

All CSU employees are designated "mandated reporters" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act. Compliance with CSU Executive Order 1083 and amendments is required.

Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work. An individualized assessment will link any conviction history with job duties.

Current employees offered on-campus positions may require background checks for sensitive positions. Cal Poly is smoke & tobacco-free. CSU out-of-state employment policy prohibits hiring outside California for CSU work.
