Appointments from the part‑time pool are temporary and are often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.

Part‑time lecturer positions are available in the Biomedical Engineering Department at Cal Poly for the 2025‑26 academic year. Part‑time appointments are made from a pool of approved applicants, as determined by need and contingent on funding. Responsibilities include teaching biomedical engineering courses. Candidates with extensive industry experience and those from industry or universities interested in visiting positions are encouraged to apply.

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background. Most new lecturers are hired at Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related area is required. Candidates must have demonstrated teaching ability as well as evidence of ongoing professional development and competence.

Demonstrated experience and commitment to student‑centered learning and teaching, as well as the ability to collaboratively work in multidisciplinary settings is required. Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree, university teaching and appropriate industrial experience preferred.

Experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment. Relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities.
