Responsibilities
  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in agricultural education
  • Advising students
  • Assisting in co-curricular activities, and supervising student teachers
  • Positions as determined by need Fall, Winter, and/or Spring quarters for the 2025-26 academic year, contingent on funding
Salary and Rank (Initial)

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:

  • Lecturer A: $5,507-$6,677
  • Lecturer B: $6,221-$13,224
  • Lecturer C: $6,825-$14,523
  • Lecturer D: $8,593-$15,211
Required Qualifications
  • At least three years outstanding success as a high school teacher of agricultural education
  • Knowledge of agriculture, the FFA and Supervised Agricultural Experience Programs
  • Supervision of student teachers
  • M.S. degree in Agriculture or Master of Agricultural Education
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms
  • Must meet qualifications to teach in California
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preference will be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment
  • Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities
Special Conditions

About the Department

The Agricultural Education and Communication Department at Cal Poly has approximately 260 undergraduate students, 155 Master’s Degree candidates, and five full-time and two part-time faculty who teach in the areas of teacher education and agricultural communications. Cal Poly produces nearly half of all of the newly credentialed Agriculture teachers for the state of California each year. The Brock Center for Agricultural Communication is housed within the Agricultural Education and Communication Department and serves as the laboratory for students to develop their writing, social media, and verbal communication skills.
