Active Church is a vibrant, non-denominational Christian church located in the heart of San Luis Obispo, CA, along California’s Central Coast. Since launching in 2017 under the leadership of Lead Pastor Adam Magaña and his wife Stacy, Active Church has experienced steady growth and spiritual momentum, becoming a life-giving church known for authentic community, passionate worship, and intentional discipleship.
In 2022, Active Church moved into a beautiful new facility, positioning the church for continued growth and expanded ministry impact. With a strong leadership culture, healthy systems, and a clear vision to reach people far from God, Active Church is now launching its North County Campus to extend its mission and presence into the Paso Robles area and beyond.
The OpportunityThe Campus Pastor serves as the primary pastoral leader and culture carrier for Active Church’s North County campus. This role is for a relational, people-loving pastor who is energized by building something new, developing leaders, and shepherding a campus from launch into long-term health and sustainability.
This position is hands-on growth season, requiring a servant-hearted leader who is willing to roll up their sleeves while intentionally building toward a leader-led, sustainable campus model with strong teams and clear systems.
You will not be doing this alone. The Campus Pastor partners closely with the Lead Pastor and central leadership team for alignment, support, and resourcing.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:Pastoral Leadership
- Shepherd and care for people through relationships, discipleship, and pastoral care
- Build meaningful connections with guests, leaders, and families
- Be present, approachable, and spiritually grounded
- Provide counseling, premarital care, prayer, and encouragement as needed
- Recruit, train, and develop Serve Team leaders and Life Group leaders
- Build a strong leadership pipeline for long-term campus health
- Cast vision clearly and consistently to teams and congregation
- Model servant leadership and foster a healthy, joyful team culture
- Serve as the primary pastoral presence during weekend services
- Facilitate services (welcome, transitions, commitment moments, offering, etc.)
- Ensure services are excellent, welcoming, and aligned with Active Church culture
- Personally connect with guests and provide ministry and prayer opportunities
- Support baptisms and Growth Track
- Participate in weekly leadership and service planning meetings
- Review Connect Cards and ensure timely follow-up
- Communicate clearly with campus leaders and central departments
- Build and refine systems that support growth and care
- Lead a monthly leadership gathering for campus Serve Team leaders
- Be responsive to communication within a 24–48 hour window
- Participate in setup and teardown during the launch phase
- Fill gaps while teams are being built
- Establish culture, service flow, and expectations
- Gradually delegate responsibility as leaders are developed
- Loves people and genuinely enjoys pastoral ministry
- Is confident leading in front of others and communicating vision
