Overview
Full Time Lecturer, Mechanical and Mechatronics Technology and Engineering. Two-year, academic year, Full-Time Lecturer position in the Bio Resource and Agricultural Engineering Department at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, starting August 17, 2026. Rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate level courses in Agriculture Machinery Safety;
Ag Power and Machinery Management;
Mechanical Systems Analysis;
Agricultural Systems Management; and Equipment Engineering; and engineering topics including Solid Works and shop safety. Duties may include supervising undergraduate senior projects and managing a BRAE student club.
- Teach undergraduate courses listed above in Mechanical and Mechatronics Technology and Engineering.
- Supervise undergraduate senior projects.
- Manage BRAE student club.
- Master’s degree in a relevant agricultural engineering discipline, or a related field.
- Combination of teaching, industry, and practical experience in design, fabrication, operation, and management of agricultural equipment.
- Excellence in teaching, effective communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to be a productive team player and to interact with peers, students, industry, government agencies, and the public.
- Experience and commitment to student-centered learning, laboratory-based instruction, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Commitment to fostering inclusive, equitable, and supportive learning environments.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong interest in undergraduate teaching; proficiency in English.
- Ability to communicate with industry supporters to secure external funding.
- Industry experience in project management and fluid hydraulics.
- Ability to provide undergraduate students with hands-on engineering education in a multidisciplinary, systems-based environment.
- Mandatory reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act; comply with CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
- Conditional offer of employment followed by background check; satisfactory completion required before start of work.
- Some positions may require a background check for current employees transferring to new duties.

The Bio Resource & Agricultural Engineering Department at Cal Poly has approximately 350 undergraduate students and 11 faculty members. The department is recognized for excellence in engineering and management programs and has strong ties with industry and alumni.
