Overview
Part-Time Lecturer Pool (Bachelor's Qualified) - Accounting (AY 25/26). The Accounting Area in the Orfalea College of Business at Cal Poly is creating a pool of eligible part-time accounting lecturers for possible teaching assignments in financial and managerial accounting, income taxation, and accounting information systems during the Summer, Fall, Winter, and/or Spring Quarters of the 2025-26 academic year. Appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term.
Applicants must be available on very short notice. Assignments will be contingent upon budget and enrollments.
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
Lecturer A: $5,507-$6,677;
Lecturer B: $6,221-$13,224;
Lecturer C: $6,825-$14,523;
Lecturer D: $8,593-$15,211.

Teach accounting courses as assigned, including financial accounting, managerial accounting, income taxation, and accounting information systems. Assignments depend on budget and enrollments and may occur during Summer, Fall, Winter, and/or Spring Quarters.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Business or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated currency in the professional field through ongoing work, training, or engagement with industry trends.
- Substantial and relevant industry experience, showing depth of knowledge and practical application in the field.
The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083. Following a conditional offer, a background check (including criminal records) must be completed satisfactorily. Cal Poly does not sponsor an H-1B visa for this position. Current employees offered campus positions may require a background check where mandated by law.
