Overview
THIS IS A VOLUNTEER POSITION ON A CITY ADVISORY BODY
Annual recruitment is open through Sunday, March 29, 2026. Interviews will be scheduled following close of recruitment. On June 16, 2026, City Council will make final appointments during their Regular Meeting and terms will begin immediately. Applicants that meet minimum qualifications will remain on file for one year and will be considered if unscheduled vacancies occur.
PositionsTwo positions are available for appointment. The positions are currently held by members that are eligible for re-appointment, should they choose to apply.
Board purposeThe Tourism Business Improvement District Board (TBID Board) advises the Council in the administration and use of the TBID assessment funds. The Board recommends projects to promote tourism to the City of San Luis Obispo to directly benefit the City's lodging industry.
MeetingsMeetings are the second Wednesday of every month at 10:00 a.m. in the City Council Hearing Room, City Hall, 990 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, unless otherwise specified on the agenda.

Board compositionThe TBID Board shall consist of seven members from the San Luis Obispo City lodging industry as appointed by the Council. Because of the diversity among assessment district members represented by the Board, including local, regional and national lodging industry interests, it is neither practical nor advisable to limit Board membership to City residents.
Residency and appointmentAccordingly, membership on the TBID Board shall be exempt from residency requirements otherwise applicable to City Advisory bodies.
One member of the TBID Board shall be appointed by the Board to the Promotional Coordinating Committee for a term concurrent with their TBID Board term.
Ethics trainingMembers must complete two hours of AB 1234 Ethics Training within the first year of assuming office and every two years thereafter.
