In this role, you’ll make a difference in the lives of people with substance abuse challenges, and often with co-occurring conditions. You’ll use and grow your skills in compassionate care, crisis intervention and de-escalation, in a supportive and inclusive work environment. You’ll have the opportunity to provide our community with substance abuse treatment to help people who are just discovering possibilities in their journey, going from a place of hopelessness to a place where they are valued and have the potential for a better life.
What will make you successful in this role?
Accountabilities: (3-5)
- Monitor and observe Sobering Center client behavior and activity to ensure clients are safe, accounted for and stable.
- Must work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team at the Sobering Center.
- Create and maintain a safe, welcoming environment for all clients at all times.
- Maintain facility cleanliness and organization daily.
- Provide assistance with transportation and emergency response.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and observe Sobering Center client behavior and activity to ensure clients are safe, accounted for and stable.
- Conduct property safety checks on client incoming property.
- Monitor daily bed roster and census to ensure client accountability with program requirements.
- Assist with meal preparation and meal distribution daily.
- Communicate daily needs or observational concerns to Health and/or SUD staff.
- Participate in daily shift change activities and address concerns.
- De-escalate emotionally unstable client behavior.
- Provide orientation and overview for incoming clients.
- Attend to clients’ needs while maintaining daily activity schedule.
- Monitor cleanliness and perform needed cleanup duties; replenish supplies as directed by the Program Manager.
- Transport clients to local facilities when needed and respond to emergency needs as directed by the Program Manager.
- Assist SUD or Health Center staff with referrals and transfers to continuing care.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of client monitoring experience working directly with SUD populations
- Basic academic knowledge and understanding of Substance Use
- Demonstrated competency in using technology
- May be registered with a state certifying SUD body (CCAPP/CADTP/CAADE)
- Must have a CA driver’s license and good driving record in good standing
Compensation and Benefits
- 100% of medical, dental, Life and LTD for the employee and 50% for any dependents medical and dental coverage.

Salary: $24.00-$26.00/hr, based on experience and qualifications.
