Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic
SUMMARY
We would like to announce the recent opening of Operator Mechanic/Specialist in the Track Maintenance Department. The Operator Mechanic/Specialist is the primary person responsible for performing the preventive and corrective maintenance of all mechanic, hydraulic, special equipment, specialized tools, non-revenue vehicles, etc. Operates heavy equipment, hi-rail, and non revenue vehicles, such as, but not limited to: cranes, backhoe, loaders, track tampers, heavy duty forklifts, and any heavy equipment needed on track maintenance and/or construction.
Completes specified maintenance and repair tasks to keep the Right of Way, rail tracks and related structures in good working order. Supports department in recommendations for equipment and purchasing requisitions.
- Degree from an accredited college or technical school in automotive or diesel mechanics (license preferred) and at least two years of related work experience.
- Driver’s license class 8 or higher
- Heavy Equipment management, maintenance and operation (Certification preferred)
- Basic knowledge of Track System
- Experience in the maintenance and repair of electrical, hydraulic and industrial tools
- Ability to speak, read and write both Spanish and English in a work setting.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret technical specifications, simple instructions, short correspondence, and memorandums.
- Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds with a partner. Specified vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.
