Overview

$5,000 Sign On Bonus Available (For Externals Only)

Job Title: Clinical Lab Scientist I

Location: San Juan Capistrano, CA

Work Schedule: Wednesday to Sunday, 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM

Department: Special Coagulation

Pay range: $37.41 - $56.44 per hour; eligible for shift differential of 10% for some or all hours on second shift and 15% for some or all hours on third shift. Additional details provided with offer.

Notes: Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including skills, training, experience, education, and certifications. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus.

Responsibilities
  • Performs clinical laboratory testing following required procedures and policies, and tests new procedures as applicable.
  • Prepares reagents, media, stock solutions, standards, and controls; tests new reagents/controls and evaluates usefulness based on standard criteria.
  • Determines specimen acceptability for testing according to established criteria.
  • Calculates results using manual or computerized procedures and enters results accurately.
  • Monitors turnaround times and reviews reports to ensure accurate

    Result reporting; responds to critical values when necessary.
  • Maintains instrument performance checks, calibration, maintenance, and routine quality control.
  • Performs proficiency testing and documents outcomes; initiates corrective actions when test systems do not perform as established.
  • Ensures proper tracking and labeling of reagents and supplies; maintains a safe, neat work area.
  • Demonstrates effective communication with staff, managers, suppliers, and internal/external customers; participates in staff and quality improvement meetings.
  • Takes on additional responsibilities as delegated, including evaluation of new techniques, method comparisons, cost analysis, and procedure updates.
  • Follows all company policies for safety, environmental, and infection control; and uses personal protective equipment as required.

Qualifications
  • Required

    Work Experience:

    Zero to three years of direct experience in a laboratory setting.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Lift/carry objects within the following ranges: 1–10 lbs frequently; 11–25 lbs occasionally; 26–50 lbs seldom; >50 lbs with assistance.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks; frequent simple grasping, reaching and fine manipulation.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods; good eye-hand coordination.
  • Color vision testing will be required for roles requiring color discrimination (e.g., certain microscopy tasks).
Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong typing skills; other automation skills are helpful.
Education

Bachelor's degree in science required.

License/Certification

Active California Laboratory Scientist (generalist or limited) license required. MLS/CLS credentials recognized (various terms accepted).
