ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for talented individuals to join us for an internship in 2026. Internships at Byte Dance aim to offer students industry exposure and hands‑on experience. Here, you will utilize your knowledge in real‑world scenarios while laying a strong foundation for personal and professional growth. It runs for 12 weeks. Online Assessment:
Candidates who pass resume screening will be invited to participate in Byte Dance's technical online assessment.
The PICO Foundation team builds the core technologies to make the immersive XR experience possible. From runtime software to developer SDK and game engines, the team is responsible for creating and optimizing XR technologies vertically across the software stacks, empowering our developers to create the best XR applications. The team is looking for a strong technical candidate who can help explore, research and build innovative new 3d graphics solutions in the XR space.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop innovative and highly performant XR Graphics features
- Develop PICO XR System Software
- Graphics and performance tool development
- Organize research data, write technical reports, and publish research papers
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Master in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during Summer 2026
- 3D Graphics rendering experience
- Good understanding of Vulkan or OpenGL
- Strong C++ programming skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Papers published at CVPR, SIGGRAPH and other top conferences/journals.
- Familiar with Qualcomm SOC and low level GPU profiling library.

Job InformationThe hourly rate range for this position in the selected city is $45- $60.
BenefitsBenefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Interns have day one access to health insurance, life insurance, wellbeing benefits and more. Interns also receive 10 paid holidays per year and paid sick time (56 hours if hired in first half of year, 40 if hired in second half of year). Interns who are not working 100% remote may also be eligible for housing allowance.
