The Samsung Semiconductor Inc., Wireless Connectivity Software Engineering team is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic Software Engineers to join our team in developing software infrastructure, framework, and protocol stack for 802.11 based WLAN chipsets. We are looking for engineers with expertise in MAC Layer concepts and firmware development. As a member of the WLAN Software team, you will be responsible for developing software modules for the data path and control path in MAC and physical layer of various WLAN chipsets.

What You’ll Do- Work with 802.11 WLAN chipsets, devices and protocols, including other networking devices
- Collaborate with wider teams to build and maintain end‑to‑end feature deliverables and production‑quality firmware
- Design and develop modules in embedded firmware for Samsung’s Wireless Connectivity solutions
- Major focus on implementing, unit testing, and fixing issues related to various features of 802.11 MAC
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science with 5+ years of relevant industry experience, or Master’s with 3+ years or PhD with 0+ years in the field of wireless communication technologies.
- Excellent coding skills in C for embedded firmware development.
- Ability to debug low‑level embedded software, custom/proprietary code, and enhancements.
- WLAN standards knowledge, domain expertise in Wi‑Fi (IEEE 802.11) MAC protocols, WFA protocols, and coexistence with other wireless technologies such as BT, UWB and cellular.
- Knowledge of OFDM, OFDMA principles, beamforming and RF concepts is an additional advantage.
- Understanding of QoS concepts and data‑path optimization algorithms.
- Understanding of the Linux operating system, kernel and device‑driver development.
- Proficiency with debugging tools such as Wireshark, testing tools such as WFA test beds, and version control tools such as git.
- Knowledge of Python is an additional advantage.
- Familiarity with other wireless technologies such as BT, Ultra Wideband and Cellular 4G/5G is preferred.
- Excellent coding skills in C programming languages.
- Strong understanding of MAC layer concepts & physical layer (e.g., modulation analysis of OFDM, OFDMA).
- Experience in developing firmware for wireless communication protocols (WLAN).
- Fluency in using lab equipment such as network analyzers, WFA test beds, signal generators, power meters, etc.
- Familiarity with WLAN standards & domain knowledge of Wi‑Fi MAC/PHY specifications.

Base Pay Range
$138,000 — $206,000 USD
