Xilinx, Inc., a subsidiary of AMD, is hiring MTS Software Development Engineers to research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and/or network distribution software for semiconductor operations, applying principles and techniques of engineering and mathematical analysis. Responsibilities include designing, developing, troubleshooting and debugging software programs for enhancements and new products; understanding and defining software requirements and architectures; developing software and tools in support of design, infrastructure and technology platforms (including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, cloud-based and Internet-related tools);

defining proprietary platforms (hardware and software components); driving software and systems solutions including development and product definitions; and working with cross-functional teams to address significant and unique issues where analysis requires evaluation of intangibles. Independent judgment is exercised to select methods and evaluation criteria for obtaining results with little to no supervision. Familiarity with computers and electronics, including hardware and software applications, and knowledge of engineering science and technology, is required.

The role involves applying engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of Xilinx systems and products.

Degree required

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or related field.

Qualifications:
Amount and type of experience required: Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will accept alternate combination of education and experience:
Doctorate degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or related field.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

• Unix or Linux environments;
• Scripting in C, C++, or Python;
• OS kernel & systems development;
• Machine learning, object-oriented design, memory management, or multi-threading;
• Code optimization using the GPU or software performance analysis;
• Software debugging using macOS, Linux, or Unix;
• Open-source software development; and
• Algorithm design and analysis.

Experience may be gained through graduate-level coursework, research, teaching, or internship experience.
