Research Scientist, AI Foundation

Our team at Byte Dance Research is conducting research on AI foundations, with a focus on AI safety and AI ethics. We are looking for outstanding researchers to join our team and conduct cutting‑edge research in AI foundations.

• Developing advanced technologies in AI, particularly AI foundation models and AI agents;
• Conducting research on the technologies of AI to make them more reliable, safe, and trustworthy;
• Contributing to the development of products in the company with regards to AI safety and AI ethics.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience in research on ML, NLP, LLM, and familiarity with large‑scale model training is preferred;
• Proficiency in software development and large‑scale model training, fluency in C/C++ or Python, winners of competitions such as ACM/ICPC, IOI, Top Coder etc. are preferred;
• Experience with influential projects or papers in(ignore missing words) ML, NLP, LLM, is preferred;
• Excellent problem analysis and solving skills, able to effectively solve problems in technology development and applications;
• Good communication and collaboration skills, able to address technical challenges with the team and promote technological advancement.

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $208800 - $438000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
