About Lifemoves. Life Moves is the largest and most effective provider of housing and services for neighbors experiencing homelessness in Silicon Valley since 1987. Our mission is to end homelessness by providing interim housing, supportive services, and building collaborative partnerships. With 40 programs, Life Moves gives neighbors experiencing homelessness a temporary place to call home while providing intensive, customized case management through site-based programs and community outreach.

Position

Purpose

Life Moves | MVP Santa Clara County provides interim supportive housing in San Jose to 97 families. During their stay, clients participate in holistic services tailored to each household’s unique needs and goals. Clients receive support to build self-sufficiency and return to housing stability. The team supports clients with children’s supportive services, employment, housing, benefits, physical and behavioral health through case management, workshops, and connection to specialized resources.

The Santa Clara County (SCC) Motel Voucher Program (MVP) Motel Coordinator/Program Aide plays an important role in keeping our site safe, welcoming, and running smoothly. Reporting to the Operations & Services Manager, this position is often the first to respond to client needs, helping with both everyday requests and urgent situations. Additionally the position supports volunteers, donors, and community visitors, making sure everyone feels respected and informed.

Responsibilities
  • Keep the site secure by monitoring access, completing regular safety checks (rounds), and supporting daily tasks like welcoming new clients, preparing rooms, and organizing supplies.
  • When supervisors are offsite, observe site activity, share updates, and maintain clear written and verbal communication with the team.
  • Maintain safety and emotional well-being of clients, especially during times of stress or crisis, using a calm and compassionate approach to resolve problems and support stability.
  • Help create a welcoming entry process for new participants by coordinating and leading client welcomes with care, professionalism, and consistency; ensure required documentation is completed accurately and set the tone for clients’ experience through radical hospitality and trauma-informed practices.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as ordering supplies, organizing materials, and supporting office duties to keep daily activities running smoothly.
  • Provide calm, supportive crisis response and connect clients to appropriate resources when needed.
  • Support daily operations by responding to needs and questions from clients, volunteers, donors, and visitors with radical hospitality, professionalism, and compassion.
  • Monitor site safety through rounds and by observing security cameras; report maintenance or pest control needs promptly and support cleanliness and basic prevention efforts.
  • Manage facility meals, supplies, and donations, ensuring proper inventory and organized storage.
  • Conduct welcomes, move-ins, completions, and move-outs with accurate documentation and smooth transitions for clients; prepare spaces as needed.
  • Participate in meetings, create reports and shift logs, and engage in continuous training.
  • Maintain a high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality, boundaries, and professionalism while fostering a supportive environment for all.
  • Fully participate in all required trainings, meeting assigned deadlines, engaging actively, and applying what is learned to daily work.
  • Training expectations in the first 90 days include CPR, Mental Health/First Aid (MHFA), Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, HMIS and related internal database training.
  • Complete additional trainings through Relias as listed, covering trauma-informed care, homeless services, mental health, de-escalation, boundaries, privacy, and abuse prevention.
  • Attend continuing education opportunities to grow expertise and maintain best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the program, department, and organization.
