Overview

BGIS is a leading provider of integrated facility management, project management, energy & sustainability, and real estate services. BGIS is seeking an Electrician to join the team in San Jose, CA. The Electrician is responsible for electrical repairs and maintenance services, coordinating external vendors, and ensuring safety, code compliance, and operational integrity. The role involves reviewing methods of procedure, scopes of work, and system feeds, verifying equipment readiness, and restoring systems to normal operation after maintenance or project activities.

The Electrician coordinates, processes, and documents NETA testing and IR scanning, and demonstrates BGIS values in communications with clients and team members. This role is on-site at the specified location unless stated otherwise.

Responsibilities
  • Client service:
    Communicate with client managers during all scheduled and unscheduled electrical activities; respond to client service requests; monitor service requests in the work order management system; maintain positive and professional relationships with internal and external clients; respond to off-hour emergency calls.
  • Vendor coordination:
    Work with vendors and contractors to monitor and ensure work meets BGIS and client standards.
  • Documentation and follow-through:
    Contribute to the completion of key initiatives as assigned.
  • Electrical technician focus:
    Review Methods of Procedure (MOPs), scopes of work, and system documentation to ensure redundancy and proper electrical paths; verify critical equipment is secured, backed up, and tested prior to any electrical work.
  • On-site tasks and maintenance:
    Perform electrical tasks as per the service agreement; maintain facility equipment per preventative maintenance plans; ensure all systems are returned to normal operation after maintenance or testing.
  • System inspection and troubleshooting:
    Inspect wiring, feeds, switch gear, distribution panels, and related infrastructure; troubleshoot, evaluate, and recommend upgrades as needed; order parts and supplies as required.
  • Documentation and safety:
    Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and equipment status; adhere to safety requirements including NFPA 70E, NEC/CEC, and OSHA standards.
  • Testing:
    Coordinate, process, and document all NETA testing activities and IR scanning as required.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or GED; trade school certification or verifiable training in a relevant electrical field.
  • Licensing:
    California Electrical License required and must be maintained in good standing.
  • Experience:

    3–5 years of journeyman-level experience in similar electrical work; preferred experience in mission-critical environments such as data centers, hospitals, or power generation facilities.
  • Skills:

    Strong understanding of redundancy, electrical distribution, and critical-system operation; ability to read and interpret one-lines, schematics, and technical documentation; strong communication and teamwork skills; experience in NETA testing and IR scanning; proficiency in business software applications.

    Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing conditions, and resolve issues promptly.
Physical Demands & Work Environment

Must be able to perform essential job duties with reasonable accommodations as needed. Ability to travel to local client locations; ability to walk on job sites with uneven terrain; working at heights training/certification is preferred for climbing ladders with tools and equipment. Must have a current valid driver’s license and the ability to provide personal transportation for meetings and job visits away from the office (reimbursement provided).

Respond to off-hour emergency calls.
