Overview
SJSU is hiring a Carpenter to perform skilled journey-level work in constructing, remodeling, maintaining, and repairing campus facilities. Duties include reading blueprints, installing and repairing drywall, flooring, roofing, doors, windows, and cabinetry; building furniture and partitions; and ensuring all work meets safety and code standards. The Carpenter also estimates materials and costs, maintains tools, and records work in the maintenance system.
Responsibilities- Read plans and blueprints to determine project requirements and sequence of work.
- Install and repair drywall, flooring, roofing, doors, windows, and cabinetry.
- Build furniture and partitions as needed for campus facilities.
- Ensure all work meets safety and code standards.
- Estimate materials and costs and maintain tools and equipment.
- Record work in the maintenance system and keep accurate records of tasks performed.
- Skilled journey-level carpenter with demonstrated ability to perform the listed duties.
- Ability to read blueprints, estimate materials and costs, and maintain tools.
