BGIS is currently seeking an Electrician to join the team in San Jose, CA.

The Electrician is responsible performance of electrical repairs and maintenance services along with coordination of external vendors to meet client requirements. The role communicates with client managers during all electrical activities and ensures all work maintains redundancy, safety, code compliance, and operational integrity. The position reviews all MOPs (Methods of Procedure), scopes of work, and system feeds, verifies equipment readiness, and ensures systems are restored to normal operation following maintenance or project activities.
Responsibilities include coordinating, processing and documenting all required NETA (Inter National Electrical Testing Association) testing and IR (Infrared) scanning. The Electrician demonstrates BGIS values in communications with clients and other team members.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Client Service
- Communication with client managers during all scheduled and unscheduled electrical activities.
- Respond to client service requests.
- Monitor service requests in work order management system.
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills and maintain positive and professional working relationship with internal and external clients.
- Respond to off hour emergency calls.
- Work with vendors and contractors to monitor and ensure work meets BGIS and client standards.
- Contribute to the completion of other key initiatives as assigned.
- Review Methods of Procedure (MOPs), scopes of work, and system documentation to ensure redundancy and proper electrical paths of travel.
- Verify all critical equipment is secured, backed up, and tested prior to any electrical work.
- Perform onsite electrical tasks included in service agreement with the client.
- Maintain facility equipment as indicated by preventative maintenance plans.
- Ensure all electrical systems are returned to normal operation after maintenance or testing.
- Inspect wiring, feeds, switch gear, distribution panels, and related critical infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot, evaluate, and recommend upgrades as needed.
- Order parts and supplies for maintenance and repairs as required.
- Maintain clean, accurate documentation of work performed and equipment status.
- Respond to issues as they arise, diagnosing electrical faults quickly and correctly.
- Adhere to all applicable state, federal, and industry safety requirements, including NFPA 70E, NEC/CEC and OSHA standards.
- Coordinate, process and document all NETA testing activities.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Trade school certification, or verifiable training in a relevant electrical field.
- California Electrical License required and must be maintained in good standing.
- 3-5 years of journeyman-level experience in similar electrical work.
- Preferred experience in mission-critical environments such as data centers, hospitals, or power generation facilities.
- Strong understanding of redundancy, electrical distribution, and critical-system operation.
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing conditions, and resolve issues promptly.
- Ability to read and interpret one-lines, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with BGIS support teams and client contacts.
- Experience in NETA testing and IR scanning.
- Proficiency in business environment software applications.

- Cognitive skills required to work in a critical facilities environment including ability to maintain focus, communicate clearly and concisely, respond quickly to requests, follow established processes and ability to complete tasks within targeted time frame to minimize risk of outages or damage to building and high value equipment.
- Ability and willingness to travel to various local client locations.
- Physical ability to walk jobsites in uneven terrain.
- Working at heights training/certification preferred for ascending and descending various ladders carrying required tools/equipment.
- Current valid driver's license and ability to provide personal transportation for meetings and job visits away from the office with reimbursement.
- Respond to off hour emergency calls.
