Job DescriptionThis role is field-based and candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience. This geography covers San Jose, Palo Alto, Santa Cruz, Burlingame, Redwood City, Los Gatos, Salinas, and the surrounding areas.
Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, drive sales performance, effectively manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships and a needs-based solution approach to maximize short and long term sales performance. Place the patient at the center of efforts and operate within Abb Vie’s business code of conduct, policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed targets.
- Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and perform post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance. Effectively handle objections and close on sales calls.
- Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between Abb Vie and customers.
- Develop and execute a call plan that achieves set call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
- Continually build understanding of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market dynamics, accounts, disease states, product, and sales expertise; share market intelligence with in-field teams and management to optimize brand strategy.
- Differentiate Abb Vie’s value proposition with health care providers; identify and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant equivalent experience.
- Relevant industry experience in lieu of a degree is acceptable; five or more years of experience in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry is preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
- Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools; ability to operate in a matrix environment.
- Proven track record in selling with solid presentation skills; adapts to customer style and behavior; contributes ideas to the organization and responds to changes.
- Influences others and is regarded as a credible mentor; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams; leads by example.
- Documented success in leadership and increased responsibility at district/region levels; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
- Preferred: success in sales within therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account based selling, training, managed health care or marketing;
English proficiency in speaking and writing. - Must satisfy all applicable health care industry credentialing requirements to gain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory and remain in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
- Valid driver license and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen; ability to drive personal or company vehicle.
External:
Specialty physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and others depending on brand plan.
Internal:
In-field team members, Sales Management, Marketing Management, Training, Customer Excellence, and Brand Plan stakeholders.
