The Specialty Gases Sales Specialist is responsible for driving the growth of Specialty Gas Products to existing and prospective customers. Through direct sales and in collaboration with area account managers, the Specialist is accountable for product management, market growth, and development to achieve business and sales objectives in the assigned geography. This is an outside sales position. Driving specialty gas sales within the assigned geography through identification of key growth markets including Life Science, Energy and Chemical, Semiconductor, Research Laboratories, Manufacturing, EV Lithium Battery and PV solar manufacturing, Food and Beverage and/or products and associated targets.

Development and execution of a strategy to capture that growth. Supporting account managers to drive the growth of specialty gas sales within the assigned portfolio. Maintaining solid working relationships with Account Managers, District Managers and other Specialists in region. Provide customers with the technical support, engineering, training, and service for all specialty gas needs. Establish a process for continuous and accurate market data collection for customer sales and service needs, market trends and competitor activities.

Utilize all necessary sales and marketing literature to promote Airgas initiatives identified as part of the region's growth strategy. Maintain and upgrade selling skills and technical/product knowledge through required training and self-directed research. Utilize Salesforce and Google Suite daily, generate and execute customer contracts. Read and respond to email and phone calls in a timely manner. Special projects and other duties as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Support account managers to grow the specialty gas sales within their portfolios.
  • Maintain solid working relationships with Account Managers, District Managers and other Specialists in the region.
  • Provide customers with technical support, engineering guidance, training, and service for all specialty gas needs.
  • Establish processes for continuous and accurate market data collection on customer needs, market trends and competitor activities.
  • Utilize sales and marketing literature to promote Airgas initiatives aligned with regional growth strategy.
  • Maintain and upgrade selling skills and technical/product knowledge through training and self-directed learning.
  • Utilize Salesforce and Google Suite daily; generate and execute customer contracts; manage communications promptly.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as necessary.
  • Adhere to company expectations: perform reasonable work requests within qualifications.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Science, Food Science, Engineering, Technology, or related field required; in lieu of degree, up to 4 years of related experience may be accepted.
  • Minimum of 5 years of prior outside business-to-business sales experience with proven solution-selling capabilities.
  • Familiarity with industrial and specialty gases; industrial gas/welding supply sales is a plus.
  • Knowledge of customer segmentation and ability to prioritize high-value targets for Airgas.
  • Proven consultative sales approach delivering multiple layers of value to customers and a mix of sales solutions and products.
