Reporting to the Seafood Department Manager and supervised by the Seafood Department Manager and/or Seafood Department Head and/or their delegate, you play a crucial role in maintaining the efficient and effective operation of the Seafood Department to achieve optimal performance and adherence to departmental standards. You serve as a deputy to the department leaders and assume part of their responsibilities when necessary.

You will provide hands‑on support to team members and support the training and development of staff.

T&T Supermarkets is marking over 30 years as Canada’s favorite Asian grocery store and recently announced the first store location in the United States. Our growth into the US offers great opportunities within our first US flagship store, set to open in 2024 in Bellevue, Washington in the Marketplace at Factoria, spanning 76,000 sq.ft. and will stand as the largest Asian specialty supermarket in Washington state.

We have additional plans for growth and will also be establishing a regional office in the greater Los Angeles area to grow T&T Supermarket’s vendor base with American food suppliers.

• Support the team leaders by overseeing daily operations and staff performance, providing on-the-job training, guidance, and supervision to ensure the achievement of department goals through collaborative teamwork.
• Assist in merchandise management, including placing orders and implementing promotional activities to achieve departmental goals effectively.
• Oversee the overall cleanliness of the workplace (e.g. fish tanks) and maintenance, tools, and equipment.
• Oversee product quality and freshness while enforcing the FIFO (First In, First Out) principle to uphold standards.
• Address customer complaints promptly and cultivate strong relationships with customers by offering attentive service, including a welcoming smile, eye contact, and personalized attention.
• Ensure thorough quality control measures during product receiving and efficiently manage inventory across display areas and backrooms, including the warehouse, walk‑in cooler, and freezer.
• Set a positive example for the team by consistently performing all assigned duties to a satisfactory standard, fostering a culture of excellence within the department.
• Fulfill any additional responsibilities as assigned by superiors, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the department.

• Good communication skills in English, proficiency in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is advantageous.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred, demonstrating leadership capabilities.
• Basic understanding of profit and loss management, has ability to interpret data and market information.
• Good computer skills in MS Office.
• Well versed with workplace health and safety protocols.
• Has a keen interest and knowledge in merchandise management and implementation, including inventory control and promotional strategies.
• Familiar with relevant tools and equipment, able to interpret product labels accurately.
• Great organization, problem‑solving, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
