DescriptionSummary
: A Cashier associate must provide aggressive customer service through greeting customers as they enter the store and the timely, accurate processing of customer transactions. The Cashier Associate greets customers at the register area, scans merchandise, processes all sales, refunds/exchanges, and closes transactions. The position also includes training, maintenance and stocking responsibilities as assigned. Since the Cashier associate is often the first and last person a customer will encounter, they should greet each customer when they enter and thank each customer when they leave.
- Understanding and conducting yourself according to the company’s Mission and Values
- Accurately processing customer transactions in an orderly, timely, and friendly manner (credit cards, cash, checks, etc.)
- Greeting customers as they enter and exit the store, creating a lasting impression of friendliness
- Verifying merchandise quantities, descriptions, and prices to ensure accuracy during a transaction
- Handling returns/exchanges and sales of merchandise
- Answering incoming phone calls promptly and courteously
- Receiving payment on commercial accounts, handling C.O.D. tickets, and aiding in credit application completion
- Completing and filing due tickets for customers needing a later pick-up
- Completing and filing rain checks for out-of-stock items
- Counting cash and managing drawer: deposits and preparing for the following day
- Using the credit and check verification system per company policy
- Managing daily paperwork, reports, and documentation in an efficient and precise manner
- Directing customers to items and coordinating with team members for assistance
- Maintaining positive customer service attitude at all times
- Following all Cashier procedures and accurately distinguishing similar products
- Keeping the store clean
- Other tasks as assigned by store management
Must consistently demonstrate the company’s Mission and Values. Strong oral and written communication skills are required to interact with customers, vendors, and associates in person and on the telephone. A customer service-oriented and team-oriented mindset with good organizational skills is essential. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Physical requirements include the ability to climb ladders, reach, bend, twist, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs.,
handle large odd-shaped items, and stock items in overhead areas. Must be able to accurately count and distinguish denominations of money and maintain a high level of product knowledge. Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays is required.
