Child Nutrition Worker I
Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation and packaging of food items in a food service production center.
- Serve food and perform cashiering duties in a school cafeteria, snack bar, satellite food service unit, or other remote site.
- Maintain food service equipment and facilities in a safe, clean, and sanitary condition.
- Receive general supervision within a framework of well-defined policies and procedures.
- May direct and monitor the work of student assistants in a lead capacity as assigned.
- Perform a wide variety of duties related to serving and selling food at assigned food service facility/outlet (e.g., ala carte line, faculty serving unit, food service cart, satellite unit).
- Assist in the preparation of foods such as sandwiches, salads, dressings, and hamburgers.
- Package and wrap food items into individual servings that meet established Federal and State guidelines.
- Weigh, wash, slice, chop, mix, stir, blend, and measure a variety of ingredients used in food preparation.
- Serve food at the assigned location while monitoring student cashiers/servers as assigned.
- Maintain clean, orderly, and sanitary work areas, serving counters, carts, and units.
- Assist in cooking and baking tasks as assigned.
- Operate and clean food service equipment and machines (e.g., slicer, chopper, mixer).
- Wash trays, plates, utensils, pots, pans, and serving equipment.
- Set up serving counters, lines, carts, and warmers with appropriate items, supplies, and cash box; count and record items as needed.
- Package and store leftovers.
- Perform cashiering duties, including receiving money, making change, and collecting meal tickets.
- Inventory food on hand before and after meals/service.
- Assist in maintaining records related to student timesheets, cash box totals, and food served, used, prepared, sold, etc.
- Count and record monies collected.
- Perform related duties as required.
