Honda Research Institute USA (HRI-US) is seeking a motivated Human-AI Collaboration Research Intern to support a cutting-edge project on multiplayer user study data collection. The intern will contribute to the design and execution of online studies that investigate group interaction dynamics in ad hoc collaboration tasks. The work will leverage Unity-based web platform for multiplayer interaction, with participant recruitment and data collection managed via Prolific.

The successful candidate will focus on experimental design, study deployment, and data analysis, helping uncover insights into collaborative group behavior and decision‑making processes. This internship provides a unique opportunity to contribute to interdisciplinary research at the intersection of cognitive science, human‑computer interaction, and group dynamics.

• Design and implement online user studies to investigate group collaboration and interaction dynamics.
• Utilize an existing Unity‑based data collection platform for multiplayer interaction.
• Develop heuristic and policy‑based multiple AI agents behavior to evaluate impact on group interaction.
• Coordinate participant recruitment and study deployment through Prolific.
• Collect, clean, and analyze behavioral and interaction data from multiplayer studies.
• Contribute to the interpretation of findings and preparation of research outputs, including academic presentations and publications.

• Currently enrolled in a Ph.D. or Master’s program in Cognitive Science, Psychology, Human‑Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Strong background in experimental design and human behavioral data collection.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or similar tools for data analysis.
• Working knowledge of Unity for study design and deployment.
• Experience with online study platforms (e.g., Prolific, MTurk) and participant management.

• Research experience in group dynamics, social psychology, or collaboration studies.
• Familiarity with multiplayer systems or interactive online platforms.
• Skills in data visualization and advanced statistical or machine learning methods for behavioral data.
• Strong communication and academic writing skills, with interest in publishing research findings.
• Prior experience conducting remote user studies or online behavioral experiments.
