Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled full or part-time Veterinarian to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing high-quality veterinary care and possess excellent communication skills to build lasting relationships with our clients. Our DVM team and engaged support staff are passionate about teaching and mentorship; new graduates are encouraged to apply! Relief shifts are available as we search for the perfect fit for our team.

Burbank Pet Hospital
, located in San Jose, CA, is well equipped to practice quality medicine with a full in-house lab, digital x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound, dedicated dental suite, and more. Key Responsibilities
  • Comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups
  • Client communication and education
  • Performing diagnostic procedures and surgery
  • Maintaining accurate medical records
  • Pharmacy duties, including prescribing medication and following controlled substance protocols
  • Promoting teamwork and staff efficiency
  • Collaborating with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations
  • Evaluating and monitoring protocols for daily hospital operations from intake to discharge
  • Attending daily rounds to ensure the highest standards are upheld
  • Participating in practice management updates and training at all levels
  • Performing other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications (Required)
  • Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited institution
  • Current State Veterinary License
  • DEA registration required and maintained
  • 1+ years of experience in a veterinary practice
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills
  • Excellent surgical and dental skills
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to providing compassionate and high-quality veterinary care
  • Client communication skills, including establishing rapport and explaining treatment options
  • Display confidence and reassurance when dealing with stressed or ill pets
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work as needed
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
  • Clinical expertise in cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, neurological, and other examinations
  • Problem‑solving skills to address challenges in hospital management
  • Effective communication of diagnostic and therapeutic options to clients and internal staff
  • Professionalism, including receiving and providing constructive feedback
  • Business acumen related to hospital finances
  • Ethical decision‑making rooted in patient care
  • Commitment to continuing education and facilitation of learning for others
