Job Responsibilities
- Sets up, adjusts and operates extrusion machines to run various materials and sizes
- Loads materials into extruder and adjusts feed mechanisms to set feed rates
- Observes machine operations, control boards and gauges to detect any defective material or machine malfunctions
- Performs troubleshooting and makes adjustments to maintain a high level of quality
- Modifies and/or changes tooling to establish new size products (single, multi-lumen, bump, etc.)
- Establishes processing parameters for new products
- Assists in performing IQ, OQ, PQ, etc.
- Trains new and existing operators on all processes and paperwork when needed
- Observes and checks finished product coming off the production line; if detects sub‑standard product takes immediate corrective action
- Ensures continuous operations by monitoring and inspecting and re‑adjusting parameters of control boards, gauges of extrusion machine
- Multi‑tasks by running and preparing for next orders
- Inspects tubing in‑process and final to ensure that QIP specifications are met and that product is processed to print requirements
- Performs routine preventive maintenance on machines
- Prepares finished parts to be taken by material handling
- Eagerly trains and mentors others
- Accurately records information on extrusion data history records, quality documents and lab notebooks
- Follows verbal and written instruction; is accountable for actions
- Adheres to safety and quality standards while working within a team environment
- Promotes job and process improvement (5S and other initiatives)
- Responds to multiple assignments in a timely and efficient manner
- AA Degree or equivalent work experience in related discipline and 3‑5 years of related experience in the medical device industry
- Working knowledge of engineering principles and ability to read and comprehend work instructions, schematics and design documentation
- Proficiency with Microsoft desktop environment:
Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook - Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Previous experience working on machinery and completing equipment maintenance required
- Previous exposure to automation is also required, with knowledge of pneumatic systems, mechanical motion systems & electrical drive systems
- Knowledge of operating, debugging and maintaining automated systems

- Must be able to use a microscope and/or comparator for part inspection and demonstrate print reading skills, use of calipers, micrometers, and comparators
Physical Activity - Repetitive motions:
Must be able to constantly make substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Requires frequent work while extending hands and arms between knees & shoulders and handling parts with hands.
Physical Requirements - Must be able to constantly remain in a stationary position such as standing or sitting. Occasionally moves between clean rooms, labs or site to access equipment and work stations. Occasionally walks, climbs stairs/ladders, exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Must be able to lift and carry a minimum weight of 50 lbs.
Visual Acuity - Requires close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts; using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
Working Conditions - Exposure to manufacturing areas and development labs. Requires use of personal protective equipment such as gloves, frocks, hair and beard covers, face protection, foot protection, safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
TravelThis position may require occasional travel.
