The OpportunityAdobe's Legal and Government Relations (LGR) team partners with business and functional teams to manage the company's legal and government affairs. Sub-teams include Policy, Compliance, Anti-piracy, Corporate Securities and M&A, Litigation, Intellectual Property, Privacy, Trademarks & Marketing, Employment, Real Estate, Security, Operations and Product and Sales support. Adobe's LGR embraces best practices to align with business needs.
Adobe is seeking a Chief Privacy Officer to lead and provide vision for all aspects of its global privacy strategy and business execution. The Chief Privacy Officer will oversee the global privacy program, work with senior executives, technologists and business leaders, and manage compliance with evolving privacy, security and consumer protection laws and industry standards, while mitigating legal and brand risk.
Reporting to Adobe's Chief Legal Officer, the Chief Privacy Officer will be a lawyer with strategic and operational privacy expertise who can identify gaps, build new processes, influence product and engineering teams, and establish themselves as a proactive privacy leader with global impact.
This person should communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, including the Executive team, Board of Directors, and Shareholders, and have demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration with a strong focus on risk management and appropriate risk appetite.
What You'll Do- Building trust by overseeing the company's global privacy strategy and policies. Lead and develop programs, trainings and processes to address privacy issues related to legacy and new technologies and services, ensuring compliance with global privacy and data security laws and regulations.
- Continuously developing and improving Adobe's privacy compliance program and serving as a privacy evangelist to advance a culture of privacy.
- Influencing product and engineering teams by driving privacy and data protection-centric features and developing and scaling Privacy-By-Design strategies.
- Developing integrated strategies to optimize new data use and innovations for customer benefit.
- Creating and implementing customer-focused strategies, products and experiences to enable responsible data use; engaging with engineers and, where relevant, law enforcement for hosted services.
- Guiding Product, Engineering, Data Science and Innovation teams on data use/features; communicating regulations and requirements to non-experts.
- Partnering with cross-functional teams to provide transparency and control over personal information of customers and consumers.
- Leading privacy due diligence on inorganic growth opportunities.
- Representing Adobe externally before data protection regulators, industry groups and other partners to drive balanced, scalable and global privacy approaches; oversee external communications on privacy.
- partnering with industry leaders to drive customer-focused programs and policies and participate in industry forums to shape privacy, data and digital advertising policies and regulations.
- Leading a team to provide privacy counseling and support to Adobe's business units and corporate functions; developing talent passionate about global privacy and data protection.
- A JD from a leading law school/university with at least 15 years of relevant privacy experience, including in-house work; ideally 5+ years in SaaS/internet/consumer spaces and some experience at a top-tier law firm. Experience in a Fortune 250 or large-scale technology company is preferred.
- Deep technical competence to understand Adobe's products and privacy/security features; product counseling experience is a plus.
- Global privacy expertise with knowledge of privacy regulations across major markets and jurisdictions.
- Superior relationship management and ability to build partnerships across the organization and with external collaborators.
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) to influence at all levels of the organization.
