Overview
Under the direct supervision of Assistant Director for Facilities Operations, the Laborer primarily performs general unskilled manual labor, including a variety of general repair work and preventive maintenance that does not require journey-level skills. The laborer assists with moving/relocation scheduled work requests, uses powered or non-powered cleaning and materials handling equipment and delivery trucks. The role may involve general non-maintenance repair work and maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of the work area.
Work areas include residential facilities and/or administrative offices such as the Classics residence halls, Campus Village residential facilities, and/or trash/recycling rooms. The position will work an alternative work schedule.
- Perform general unskilled manual labor, including a variety of general repair work and preventive maintenance that does not require journey-level skills.
- Assist with moving/relocation of scheduled work requests.
- Use powered or non-powered cleaning and materials handling equipment and delivery trucks as needed.
- Participate in collection, segregation and recycling of various materials.
- Set up and break down tables, chairs and canopies; move furniture within or to/from offices.
- Assist with relocation needs due to repairs and with set up and break down for events such as Admitted Spartan Day and Opening Days.
- Perform duties in their assigned work area and, as needed, in other work areas.
- Maintain appearance and cleanliness of their work areas; follow safe, approved methods and frequencies approved by University Housing Services.
- Work in an alternative schedule as required.
- General unskilled/manual labor capability and ability to perform semi-skilled facilities operations functions.
- Ability to operate and use basic cleaning, materials handling equipment and delivery vehicles as directed.
- Wlexibility to work across multiple work areas including residential facilities and administrative offices.
