Overview
We re looking for an admitted attorney for an extremely promising Post Conviction Relief Attorney position within a premier law firm with room for growth. This is an opportunity for a dedicated Associate Attorney to gain experience in both criminal and immigration law and further their career with an established firm in the San Jose area. As the Post Conviction Relief Attorney, you will report to the Supervising Attorney.
We’re looking to add an attorney with previous litigation and/or appellate experience to join our team and handle post-conviction relief. The Post Conviction Relief Attorney will manage their caseload, client interaction, and can collaborate with our Post Conviction Relief Team of Attorneys and legal assistants.
- Advise clients on their legal rights and draft legal documents related to their case.
- Handle post-conviction relief matters, including motions to vacate, expungements, motions to reduce, and early termination of probation.
- Interaction with both criminal and immigration practices; experience in immigration law is highly desirable but not required.
- Attend motion hearings on behalf of clients and advise on strategies after hearings.
- Manage open criminal cases including arraignments, pre-trials, pleas, and sentencing on behalf of other criminal attorneys within the firm.
- Manage court appearances, draft motions, interview clients, and perform legal research.
- Analyze probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedents.
- Manage workload and provide legal analysis for clients to determine potential benefits.
- Criminal defense experience or immigration law experience.
- Experience handling criminal cases at the state and local level.
- Team player who is willing to help, strategize, and collaborate with fellow associates.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred but not required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
Salary: 80k-120k annually, depending on experience.
