Theteam
The Technical Sales Solutions Consultant (Presales Engineer) team plays a key role in the customer solution‑architecting process, providing pre‑sales software and hardware technical expertise. Working closely with the field sales organization, other consultants, and customer representatives, the Solutions Consultant team members provide support ranging from product specification presentations to product value discussions. A member of the team uses project‑management and customer‑relationship skills to align Hitachi Vantara Technology solutions with customers’ business strategies.
In addition, they demonstrate strong knowledge in one of Hitachi Vantara’s key initiatives with thorough knowledge of all solution areas.
- Provide presales technical leadership and direction based on knowledge of industry/vertical market trends, regional business economics and strategic issues.
- Provide guidance and direction on technical account strategies that align to customer business requirements and goals.
- Collaborate with Regional Sales Leadership Team to prioritise and target team opportunities.
- Directly engage with director‑level and higher customer and partner leadership to understand customer business issues and bring the right resources to bear in developing and proposing solutions.
- Develop positive relationships with other organisational leadership to ensure constant collaboration and synchronisation between the technical sales process and delivery execution.
- Work closely with product management and product marketing to collaborate on solutions and opportunity pursuits.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to the Solutions Consultants (SCs).
- Actively support company change programmes and act as a role model for solution selling.
- 10+ years of experience in the Information Technology industry.
- 3–5 years of experience in managing Consulting Presales roles in the Storage/Technology Industry or in a High‑Value Solutions Infrastructure company.
- Track record of success in a business‑technology related sales environment with excellent customer skills.
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies such as Storage, Server technologies, Virtualisation/VMware, AI/ML, Containers, Business Continuity, Data Protection, SAN, LAN/WAN concepts and architectures.
- Ability to develop and deliver well‑structured presentations (including white‑boarding) with information appropriate for the desired audience.
- Personable, persuasive and articulate — able to represent Hitachi Vantara positively to customers, build positive relationships of influence, and communicate well (written and verbally).
As required by the equal pay and transparency acts, the expected compensation for this position is approx. $190K base, $260K OTE. The expected pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. Employees are eligible to participate in Hitachi Vantara’s sales‑target incentive and are subject to the programme’s conditions and restrictions.
