Want to be in the pole position on an exciting journey solving hard problems that test the limits of highly scalable distributed systems? We are building a Platform As A Service (PaaS) system that “just works” and can keep our massive site running healthy, in a lights-out fashion.

We are looking for a hands-on engineering leader for this rockstar team.

The eBay PaaS system runs tens of thousands of servers, thousands of deployments, a large elastic compute engine while enabling an agile platform for developers to build, test and release code.

Key

Job Responsibilities:

Own and drive various components of PaaS system

Manage a team of developers designing and implementing the next-gen, self-healing PaaS, as well as improving existing products

Participate and work with leadership, product management, quality counterparts in strategic planning and management for resources, environments and releases

Own scheduling and on-time delivery of features throughout the software development lifecycle

Work across platform, operations, and development teams to deliver highly scalable and reliable software deployment and management services

Architect and deliver a strong development process that ensures high quality and business agility

Provide timely and appropriate communication to stakeholders, and customers on issue status and resolution

Recruit top talent and passionate about growing them.

Ensure high availability and reliability SLAs of PaaS services

Be a technical thought leader for the team and provide direction whenever required

Mentor team members so that they can perform to their fullest potential.

Job Requirements:

10+ years of experience in the relevant technology industries, in requirements analysis, design, development and testing of online, distributed, enterprise-class applications/platforms with particular attention to scalability and high performance.

3+ years of Management experience and a track record building and developing high performing teams and attracting and developing technology talent

Passionate about learning new technology, take pride in code quality and a self-starter

Strong system-level troubleshooting skills and ability to identify and resolve performance and scalability bottlenecks.

Sound background of cloud technologies and frameworks, preferably Open Stack and AWS

Knowledge on container and clustering technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos etc.

Proven experience architecting and implementing scalable, resilient, reliable distributed systems

A high level knowledge and experience of industry trends and technology advancements relating to providing platforms as a service

Experience in participating in open source standards and contributing to open source is highly desirable
