You Will Be Doing

You will be providing IT support to Safeway grocery stores in and around San Jose, CA, helping with equipment deployment and installation of new hardware and software. You will work with computers, printers, POS systems, scales, and network servers, troubleshooting and configuring various pieces of IT hardware specific to retail environments.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support standard hardware platforms and systems installed throughout Safeway.
  • Repair all approved standard technology hardware including PC/Server hardware, Network hardware, RF hardware, and printers.
  • Provide complete recoverability of systems and applications.
  • Resolve troubleshooting issues.
  • Install new hardware and software.
  • Provide customers with IT support and meet goals for service level agreements.
  • Provide network and remote connectivity support.
  • Maintain equipment inventory controls and policies.
  • Work with the Support Center (STSC) on assignment of problems, support issues, and concerns with computer systems.
  • Interface with all Corporate IT groups for on‑site support and technology resolutions.
  • Adhere to repair standards and service levels established.
  • Account for required driving within the service area.
What We Are Searching For
  • Excellent telephone, customer service, and problem‑solving skills to resolve high‑pressure issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to present technical information in a clear manner.
  • Working knowledge of IT hardware, installation models, Windows, MS Office, and related applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and be a strong collaborative partner in a matrixed organization.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, days, evenings, nights, and on‑call support capacity.
  • Strong sense of urgency, business ethics, dependability, and follow‑through.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate; BA/BS degree preferred or 3+ years of technical/training/hardware certifications preferred.
  • Information Technology project implementation exposure with 5+ years of technical systems experience and 2+ years of tech support experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with retail store systems, technology systems, and hardware preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience with installation and configuration of desktop and peripheral technology preferred.
  • Good driving record and reliable vehicle required.
Physical Environment
  • Work may be performed in a temperature‑controlled environment.
  • Must sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time.
  • May spend long periods at a desk or computer terminal; use of keyboards and other office equipment is required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds of equipment, with some twisting and turning during equipment installs.
  • Workday is fast paced; some evening and weekend work may be required.
Salary

The hourly range is $26.57 to $34.53. Starting salary will vary based on location, experience, and qualifications.
