Senior Director, Strategic HR Business Partner
Join Bloom Energy as a Senior Director, Strategic HR Business Partner. This fully on‑site, five‑day role in San Jose, CA reports to the Chief People Officer and will partner with the Engineering/CTO functions to own the HR strategy for these groups.
OverviewBloom Energy is leading the clean‑energy transition with solid oxide fuel cell and electrolyzer technologies that power AI data centers, hospitals, grids and more. We are expanding rapidly and seeking an experienced HR leader to help scale and mature our organization.
Role and Responsibilities- Understand business strategy and execute aligned programs for organizational design, workforce planning, succession, talent management, performance management, and skills assessment.
- Lead organization‑design initiatives, deliver programs, and resolve complex employee‑relation issues.
- Diagnose gaps between current and desired performance and deploy actions including redesign, process change, coaching and training.
- Balance strategic thought leadership with day‑to‑day tactics until headcount growth is achieved.
- Review key workforce metrics with leaders and create programs to address gaps and drive systemic improvement.
- Act as liaison between business, HR operations and COEs to align services, programs and policies with client needs.
- Drive work with a detailed‑oriented, business–minded approach and roll‑up‑your‑sleeves attitude.
- Coach senior leaders to improve leadership, team relationships and performance feedback.
- Within first 3 months:
Gain deep business understanding and earn trust to support accelerated growth. - Within first 6 months:
Guide the team through change management, influence business decisions, and maintain high engagement during rapid growth. - Long‑term:
Onboard high‑quality employees, scale the organization 3‑4 years, and establish leadership succession plans for key roles.
- Deep understanding of engineering functions and talent dynamics.
- Proven success scaling teams and driving transformation in high‑growth global environments.
- Strong partnership, stakeholder management, coaching, and analytical skills.
- Ability to synthesize large data sets, recognize trends, tie back to business priorities, and recommend data‑driven actions.
- Experience leading large‑scale change‑management initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, HR management or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 20+ years of progressive HR experience, including 5+ years supporting top‑level executives.
- Experience supporting technical organizations, and preferably some experience outside HR.
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment law and organizational development.
