Base pay range$75,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr
Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and detail-driven Payroll Specialist to manage payroll processes at Critchfield Mechanical Inc, a mechanical contractor specializing in HVAC and plumbing. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of weekly union and non-union payroll.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of payroll experience, including construction industry, union payroll expertise, certified payroll, and OCIP/CCIP time reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Process weekly payroll for union and non-union employees in accordance with labor agreements and project requirements
- Prepare and submit monthly certified payroll reports for public works and prevailing wage projects
- Prepare monthly union benefit statements and ensure accurate and timely remittance to union trust funds
- Stay current on prevailing wage determinations and ensure compliance on government-funded projects
- Maintain accurate payroll records, including employee hours, job classifications, project coding, and job cost allocations
- Handle quarterly and annual payroll tax filings, W-2s, and year-end reporting in coordination with finance team
- Support internal and external audits (e.g., union audits, DOL audits) by providing payroll data and documentation
- Prepare monthly payroll reports for OCIP/CCIP projects
- Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience, with at least 3 years in a union or construction-related environment
- Strong understanding of union labor practices and certified payroll requirements
- Proficient in construction payroll and job costing software (e.g., Foundation, Viewpoint, Sage 300 CRE, or similar)
- High level of accuracy, discretion, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Construction Industry Experience Required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field Preferred, Not Required
