About the Organization and the Job
Heart of Hope Asian American Hospice Care is a non‑profit startup hospice licensed by the state of California since 2016. We are looking for a per‑diem Home Health Aide (HHA) to join our growing team in San Jose, California. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a passionate team that provides end‑of‑life care to the under‑served community in the Silicon Valley area.
Job DescriptionUnder the supervision of a registered nurse, the HHA provides personal care and related non‑professional household services necessary to meet the hygiene, ADL, and comfort needs of home‑bound patients. The HHA receives functional guidance and supervision from the interdisciplinary team and is assigned in a manner that promotes quality, continuity, and safety of patient care.
Pay Rate and BenefitsPay rate depends on relevant qualification and experience.
- Hourly rate: $22–$27
- Visit rate: $50–$55
Part‑time employee benefits include Paid Sick Leave; 401(k) retirement plan with optional company matching.
Qualifications / Requirements- Certified Home Health Aide in the State of California
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) CPR certification
- Automobile insurance
- Valid California Driver License
- Compliance with COVID‑19 healthcare personnel requirements at all city, county, state, and federal levels
- Minimum one year experience performing duties as an aide in a home‑care setting or other healthcare‑related facility
- Direct patient‑care experience within the past three years
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare practices, and understanding of universal precautions
- Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care provided
- Tolerance for body secretions, strong odors, potential exposure to disease, and varied environmental conditions
- Ability to cope with emotional stress and be tolerant of different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values
- Knowledge of and commitment to hospice philosophy of care
- Bilingual Chinese/English speaking welcomed but not required
Heart of Hope Asian American Hospice Care will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the California Fair Chance Act.
