Shift / Schedule: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Thursday/Friday and 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Saturday
Compensation: $59.00 – $69.00 per hour

The Mammogram Technologist performs diagnostic breast imaging by utilizing a mammography unit under the general direction of a certified physician, such as a certified radiologist, to assist in the diagnosis of breast‑related diseases.
Essential Functions Patient Care- Perform high quality radiologic and mammography exams on incoming patients.
- Monitor patient's well‑being during exams; recognize patient discomfort or medical problems and take appropriate action.
- Guide patients through this sometimes‑difficult process by kindly talking them through the steps and answering their questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and process.
- Respond to physician questions and needs regarding patients.
- Assist radiologists with patient procedures such as image guided breast biopsies, needle localizations, and ductograms.
- Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures.
- Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of the specified area of body requested by physician.
- Determine exposure factors based on height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required.
- Adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
- Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
- Demonstrate competence in all Breast Imaging procedures including screening Mammography, Diagnostic Mammography, and minimally invasive studies.
- Accurately present patient studies for interpretation with pertinent clinical history, physician’s order, demographics and other data necessary to interpret exam.
- Participate in daily and weekly quality control and quality assurance program as required by the manufacturer and the regulatory bodies.
- Experience with Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
- Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and arrange for repairs as needed.
- Prepare images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician and process images and review for proper identification and quality control.
- Assist radiologists and other qualified physicians who have a valid CDPH RHB Supervisor Operator Permit.
- Complete forms and maintain records, logs, and reports of work performed.
- Assist in maintaining analytical records which include but are not limited to Enhanced Quality Using the Inspection Program (EQUIP), physicist reports, radiologist and mammography licenses, radiologist and technologist educational units, and department protocols for State and Federal reviews.
- Model WeCare principles.
- Participate in performance improvement activities.
- Adhere to HR, safety, HIPAA and compliance policies, and attendance requirements.
- Perform work in accordance with established schedules, policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree from an AMA‑approved school and meet requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- California Certified Radiologic Technologist License from State of California (CRT).
- BLS Certification.
- California Mammography Certificate.
- Two (2) years of clinical experience with Mammography.
- Experience working with PACS and RIS systems.
- Ability to accurately type a minimum of 40 WPM.
- Strong verbal and written communications, and active listening skills.
- Solid patient/guest relations skills with the ability to communicate in a professional, courteous and efficient manner.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks to complete assignments within the time allotted to maintain standard workflow.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member who is flexible, cooperative and willing to assist others.
