Position: Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT)

Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) at San Jose Behavioral Health Hospital

San Jose, CA – Inpatient mental health facility with 133 beds. Skilled, compassionate care provider needed to support patients’ safety, wellness and recovery.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly range: $33.75 – $43.75 (shift differentials for Evening and Night).

Shift Schedule

Full time, 5 x 8‑hour days.
Day shift 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.;
Evening shift 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.;
Night shift 11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.; at least one weekend day required.

Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care, medication administration, and daily living support under nursing supervision.
  • Conduct basic assessments, plan and execute care plan interventions, and document results.
  • Monitor vital signs, fluid intake, and medication logs accurately.
  • Implement de‑escalation techniques and assist with restraints when necessary.
  • Engage patients in therapeutic activities and promote independence.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and coordinate transportation.
  • Maintain safety and participate in rounds and observation rounds as scheduled.
  • Provide training and guidance to new staff and support daily operations.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in human services preferred.
  • Minimum one year as a Licensed Psychiatric Technician or Behavioral Health Associate.
  • Experience with inpatient psychiatric populations preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
  • California Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) required.
  • CPR and de‑escalation/ restraint certification required (training provided).
  • First aid certification may be required per state or facility policy.
