Job Purpose And

Summary:

In Retail locations, Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise. Technicians are often the first point of contact to assist patients and customers to deliver an exceptional experience.

Responsibilities
  • Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within the store.
  • Ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly, prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and provide caring service that exceeds patient expectations.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication as part of the pharmacy team.
  • Contribute to safe and effective operations, including adherence to regulatory requirements and CVS policies to ensure patient safety and privacy.
  • Complete basic inventory activities as permitted by law and directed by the pharmacy leadership team (e.g., stocking deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, waiting bin inventories).
  • Maintain flexibility for scheduling and business needs; travel to stores in the market as needed.
  • Deliver additional patient health care services where allowed by law and supported by required training and certification (e.g., immunizations and point-of-care testing).
Immunization Support (where permissible)
  • Complete licensure and training requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status to support vaccines.
  • Educate patients about vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty.
  • Monitor for adverse reactions and report per public health requirements.
  • Review and document patient information and vaccine supplies management.
Required Qualifications
  • Must comply with state board of pharmacy requirements (e.g., age, education, licensure/certification).
  • If the state board does not mandate a minimum age, must be at least 16 years old.
  • If the state board does not mandate a minimum educational requirement, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program.
  • State-level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
Essential Functions
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
  • Attention and focus to concentrate on tasks and pivot between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
  • Customer service and team orientation to assist people in a friendly manner and respond to patient reactions appropriately.
  • Communication skills for verbal and written interaction with patients and colleagues; active listening.
  • Mathematical reasoning for dispensing calculations and inventory needs.
  • Problem resolution for challenging interactions and decision-making across options.
  • Physical demands including mobility, lifting, reaching, fine motor skills, vision, and ability to lift up to 20 lbs as needed.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and convey information clearly.
  • Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market to meet business needs.

The Typical Pay Range For This Role Is $19.60 - $19.60

This base pay range reflects general bounds; actual offer depends on experience, education, geography, and other factors.
