Client is looking for a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to join our Customer Engineering team to expand the adoption of Air Jet into scores of customer edge devices.

Client has invented and launched Air Jet, the world’s first solid‑state active cooling chip. Air Jet has redefined edge computing by unleashing full processor performance even in thin, compact, vibration‑free, dust‑proof, and waterproof devices. An Air Jet‑based thermal solution provides significantly higher heat dissipation in edge devices at a dramatically lower noise, thickness, volume, and weight than traditional fan‑based solutions. For example, an Air Jet upgrade to a Mac Book Air delivers the same processor performance as a Mac Book Pro in the much thinner and quieter Mac Book Air form factor.

In compute devices, compute power and density, turbocharged by the generative AI revolution, is increasing exponentially. This increased computing power generates heat, and as processors become increasingly sophisticated and more powerful, the amount of heat they generate is skyrocketing. While processing power and heat generation is growing exponentially, thermal solutions are struggling to keep pace.

• Mechanical design, CAD, and Air Jet Thermal Module deliverables for customer projects by the team
  • Design of Air Jet Mini modules into Thermal modules with spreader (Cu/Al spreaders, Vapor chambers)
  • Design of mechanical fixturing of Air Jet thermal modules in customer platforms
  • Gasket and conduit designs to manage airflow as required.
  • Customer system mechanical optimization for Air Jet solution implementation
  • Design of fixtures for prototyping and manufacture of thermal modules
  • Mechanical CAD and drawing for drive HW (PCB and flexes) integration for the thermal modules.
• Mechanical PDM/PLM/PLC
  • Ensure that the design projects follow the product life cycle (PLC) methodologies in place.
  • Develop and enhance the PLC/PDM toolset and processes to improve efficiency and traceability.

• 5-10 years of experience (preferred) in mechanical design of devices or thermal components in one or more of the following areas:
  Commercial electronics, Automotive electronics, Avionics, and Data centers.
• The candidate’s level within organization will be contingent upon their demonstrated experience and contributions.
• Proficiency in Solid Works, AutoCAD, and other state‑of‑the‑art CAD/PLM tools.
• Experience with PDM/PLM/PLC systems – Bild or similar.
• Experience with mechanical simulation software – ANSYS Mechanical, Solid Works, COMSOL, etc.
• Experience in DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and designing for mechanical reliability in commercial electronics.
• Location:
  
  Located in the Bay Area or willing to re‑locate. In‑office presence is essential. Hybrid work is not appropriate for this position.
