ResponsibilitiesAs a Network Engineer Level 2, you will be an expert in designing, implementation, configurations, monitoring and management of network solutions and network security infrastructures (Firewall/IPS/IDS/SIEM) for enterprise systems. The responsibilities include developing customer requirements related to networking needs, documenting conceptual designs, evaluating and validating network and firewall solutions in a lab and sandbox environments, implementation of proposed solutions on site and user trainings.
This role may include also integration of network systems and technologies such as software-defined networking (SDN), enterprise and data center infrastructure, firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPS) / intrusion detection systems (IDS,) packet brokers, switches, routers, wireless access and wireless networks, and bridging infrastructures, authentication and security control devices technologies for on premise, and hybrid deployments within an Information System (IS).
Essential responsibilities and activities include but are not limited to:
- Design, implement, and document functional multifaceted networks to deliver quality product to the customer, facilitate project success and resolve challenges as they arise
- Configure L2/L3 networking, VLANs, Wireless networks, VPNs
- Diagnose issues with network topologies and equipment with routers, switches, firewalls and other network devices
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems with LAN, WAN
- Define, develop and conduct regular network and firewalls maintenance plans
- Collaborating with stakeholders, network/system domain experts and ISPs to define requirements and troubleshoot network issues
- Analyzing, developing and presenting technical and operational solutions, alternatives, and final recommendations to various audiences (technical/engineering, project management, influential stakeholders, and senior leader/executive/decision makers)
- Researching new technologies to understand implementation requirements, understand implications for integration with other systems, and deliver enhancements and efficiencies to the end user
- Performing IS cybersecurity/hardening functions and audits of existing network infrastructures including IP addressing, hosted devices, circuit loads, and traffic flows
- Creating and supporting disaster recovery procedures and continuity of operations plans
- Troubleshoot and debugging complex network problems and recommending operational efficiency improvements
- Experience with full design, management and sustainment of entire network and built the network from ground up
- Continually re-evaluate the systems to ensure they are still effective and proactively assess how new technology developments or changes in the environment may require new solutions
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on network engineering needs and requirements for system performance, installations, and sustainment programs and provide recommended improvements per industry best practices
