Resident Engineer; Rail​/Transit – San Jose, CA

SSC is currently searching for a Full-Time Resident Engineer for our San Jose, California location. A versatile RE is sought to support major rail and transit construction projects within the South Bay. Your must‑have’s:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction inspection of major public works projects. A degree (Bachelors or higher) in Civil from an accredited university can be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required experience (preferred).
• Five (5) years of inspection experience in the rail, transit, or highway/bridge industry OR 5 years of experience in the rail/public works sector working for a contractor or public agency OR Civil Engineering Degree accredited by ABET and 2 years of experience in the rail/bridge/public works industry.
• A CA PE is highly preferred (EIT considered based on experience).
• Knowledge of Caltrans Standard Plans, Standard Specifications, and Construction Manual
  , as well as familiarity with regional transit agency standards (e.g., VTA, Caltrain).
• Ability to travel to construction sites (local San Jose/South Bay).
• Knowledge and experience with equipment used in construction inspection, surveying, field testing of materials, and construction office engineering.
• Knowledge of computers, computer applications, and software such as Microsoft Office;
  Critical Path Method (CPM) software such as Primavera Project Planner (P6);
  Scheduler Analyzer Pro; and Microsoft Project.
• Must be familiar with construction inspection techniques specifically associated with light rail, heavy rail, trackwork, systems/electrification, and transit facilities, in addition to roadways and utilities.
• Observes and inspects ongoing construction work and documents work progress and issues arising throughout scope of project.
• Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
