Are you seeking an opportunity to work with today's most advanced thin film processing tools? Anelva tools deliver cutting‑edge performance in thin‑film deposition (PVD) and enable our customers to manufacture the most advanced hard disks and volatile/non‑volatile memories. In San Jose, CA you will directly interface with customers to support Anelva equipment in the field, including troubleshooting and installations.
This position performs technical support of high‑vacuum PVD equipment and related robotics. The role requires a strong understanding of vacuum technology, semiconductor best practices, and the ability to perform field‑service duties in customer clean rooms. The position also requires on‑call technical support, which may involve off‑shift work.
Your Impact- Monitor, inspect, set‑up, calibrate, and maintain semiconductor process equipment in the field to prevent downtime.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and implement solutions.
- Collect data for software‑related and liaise with headquarters in Japan.
- Accurately document all maintenance activity and provide field‑service reports.
- Install equipment control software and maintain record of software revision history.
- Participate in installations at customers’ sites.
- Monitor stock of service parts and equipment to ensure adequate inventory for repair work.
- Provide training and assistance to other technicians.
- Communicate effectively with customers, Canon USA, and Canon‑Anelva Japan employees.
- Escalate serious or complicated repair problems to senior team members.
- HS Diploma, GED, or equivalent required. AA or BS degree preferred with 1‑2 years of related experience.
- PVD or semiconductor vacuum equipment experience.
- Multi‑chamber cluster systems and robotics experience highly preferred.
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings for troubleshooting.
- Experience with PLC and other software applications a plus.
- Analytical skills for problem analysis and resolution.
- Decision‑making on problem‑solving roadmap and methodical resolution.
- Recommend spare and consumable parts for PMs and repairs.
- Domestic travel up to 25% and international travel for training.
- Drive for company business; valid driver’s license and acceptable record.
- Ability to work flexible shifts; lift approx. 50 lbs.
- Bilingual communication skills helpful but not required (Japanese/English).

Salary: $29.20 - $43.73 hourly (anticipated).
