Sales Manager​/Applications Engineer - Semiconductor​/Biomedical

Overview

Bay Spec, Inc., a San Jose, California based instrumentation powerhouse, is seeking an experienced Sales Manager or Applications Engineer. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to explore commercial applications of hermetically sealed, rugged, miniaturized spectral devices in areas including absorption/reflection, fluorescence, Raman, handheld and OCT spectroscopy. The role involves applying practical knowledge to audiences with varying levels of expertise and contributing to the marketing and selling of the company’s advanced photonics and spectroscopy products.

• Make sales calls and join sales trips.
• Support customers who are purchasing or about to make a purchase.
• Be responsible for direct sales as well as leading and managing the manufacturer representative channels.
• Aid in marketing by qualifying new markets.
• Solicit customers by phone, email, or face-to-face visits.
• Represent Bay Spec at trade shows and exhibitions.

• BS or above degree in Chemistry, Spectroscopy, Biology, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related physical science or engineering field.
• Demonstrated sales and marketing expertise in analytical instrumentation and/or photonics; some experience in analytical spectroscopy is a major plus. Equivalent experience will be considered.
• Experience serving the semiconductor, biomedical, biotech, pharma, solar and/or alternative energy industries is a plus.
• Ability to close existing proposals, generate new opportunities, and expand the manufacturer representative network, particularly in the US and North America.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English (oral and written).
• Customer-oriented, with a proactive, problem-solving approach and the ability to work in a small company environment as a strong team player.
• Familiarity with spectroscopy techniques such as Raman, UV, VIS, and NIR applications is desirable.
