Job Purpose
The component engineer plays a crucial role in the electronic supply chain ensuring the quality, reliability and performance of semiconductor electronic components, integrated circuits, passives and electromechanical components used in products. Additionally as the supply chain matures, this role will play a critical role in helping refine the supply chain to key supplier partners that share the product's vision and exit non-performing suppliers.
This role is part of the component Supply Chain Management (SCM) organization. This position is a bridge between Electronic Design Engineers, Product Lifecycle Management Administrators, Supply Chain Managers and Supplier Industrialization Engineers. Job
Nature Of Duties/Responsibilities
- Support PCBA EE component selection, crosses and qualification to make sure that they meet the product design specifications and commercial requirements.
- Support the engineering design, assembly, and testing of quantum computing prototype subsystems and full-stack systems.
- Manage the Approved Component List in compliance with the Approved Vendor List defined by the SCM organization
- Bridge between design engineering and supply chain by influencing engineering component selection to be in alignment with SCM strategy
- Integrate multidisciplinary components, including cryogenic systems, RF/microwave electronics, superconducting circuits, photonics, and custom PCBs.
- Assist Design Engineers in selecting, qualifying, approving and documenting release of new components on PLM system.
- Manage Engineering Change Orders and Change Actions to document all changes to components at Customer Part Number, Manufacturing Part Number and Bill of Materials level
- Maintain detailed CAD models, schematics, BOMs, and assembly documentation.
- For custom products, partner with SCMs and Engineers to develop Product Requirements
- Document and lead the activity to communize specs/footprint across multiple suppliers during the Request for Proposal process with the aim of Customer owning specifications for a custom product tailored to Customer needs.
- Enable multi-sourcing for critical components
- Work closely with supply chain and external vendors to source specialized components with challenging lead times.
- Develop and drive "plan for every part" strategy for SCM team when exiting suppliers to ensure all golden components and dependencies are removed from the existing supply chain (New
